5. Earthquake's 2001 Dark Match

When people think of John 'Earthquake' Tenta, he's largely remembered as a heel icon of WWF's golden generation, squaring off against Hulk Hogan at SummerSlam 1990 and in the 1991 Royal Rumble match.

As Avalanche, he also enjoyed a (rather less glorious) stint in WCW, appearing in the Three Faces of Fear alongside Kevin Sullivan and Brutus Beefcake. He then returned to WWF as Golga, which many people assume to be his last appearance in mainstream wrestling.

On the contrary, Tenta actually cropped up for Titan as late as 2001!

Not only was he one of the participants in WrestleMania X-Seven's gimmick battle royal, he also wrestled a dark match prior to a December episode of SmackDown. Sadly, he never made it back to television, but seeing such an unlikely name on the bill at such an unlikely time can still be considered a huge surprise.
