10 Most Bizarre WWF Hasbro Figures

1. Giant González

Bret Hart Hasbro
WWE/Hasbro

It's natural Giant González is the most bizarre of all Hasbro's line of action figures: he was probably the most unusual 'wrestler' to set foot in a WWF ring during the era.

González primary asset was his immense longness, and that's reflected amply in this, the tallest of all the Hasbro figures, appropriately scaled to tower over the rest of the range. Other than his stiff-as-boards legs, that's about where the toy's accuracy finishes.

Perhaps we should be thankful; it would have been ultimately far more distressing had Hasbro opted to replicate González' spray-painted physique, particularly the outfit he wore when first debuting, which would have been wholly inappropriate for...well...anything. Instead, he's rendered as a supremely ripped monster with a certain predilection for wearing fur. Unless it's supposed to be his actual body hair, which is arguably even more distressing that the body-suit option.

It's a step-up from Galoob's WCW El Giganté figure of a few years earlier, resplendent in that ridiculous Gladiator attire. However, with absolutely zero articulation, the prior effort was possibly a more faithful representation of the Argentine behemoth's in-ring agility.

As a final note, Giant González' beautifully penned signature is completely incongruous with his supposed portrayal as a monstrous heel. But why shouldn't a nefarious, untamed brute have a calligraphic script? (For comparison, check out André the Giant's similarly ornate John Hancock.)

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
