10 Most Boring Wrestlers Of 2016

9. Roman Reigns

For the second straight year, Roman Reigns was pushed as WWE's top babyface, and for the second straight year, it didn't take. Unlike in 2015, though, this time the company put the WWE World Championship on him for an extended run, tanking business and programming even worse than before.

Reigns came into 2016 with the title, riding a very fragile wave of popularity and good cheer from fans. By the Royal Rumble - where Reigns was booked as a ridiculous centerpiece of the whole event - he was hated once again. That led to a downright awful program with Triple H, culminating in a terrible WrestleMania main event. The coronation had finally happened, and it was just as bad as we had feared.

After WrestleMania, WWE was so concerned about Reigns's popularity that they only used the World Champion sparingly - many weeks, he was kept to a single interview. Still, his "I'm not a bad guy, I'm not a good guy, I'm the guy" persona was so wrong for him and executed so poorly that it was enough to cause channel changing. After dropping the title, Reigns supposedly went down to the midcard, but he was still Raw's focused player.

In all of that, it's easily to lose sight of the fact that Reigns is a capable performer with some great matches to his credit. Still, as a character, he comes off as nothing more than a generic, underdeveloped, and insincere babyface, and that doesn't make for good TV.
