10 Most Boring Wrestlers Of 2020

2. Hikaru Shida (AEW)

Damn, the women's division in AEW sucks.

Again, apologies for being so curt, but it does. Riho was a poor first champ when the company launched, and things haven't been any better since she was ousted from the top position. Successors like Nyla Rose and Hikaru Shida have been victims of the pet peeve briefly explored in Jake Hager's entry.

Namely, All Elite's top brass seem to expect that everyone watching knows every minute detail about a wrestler's past or accomplishments. Thus, they push characters like Shida on screen without even trying to frame their plans or objectives - they're just generic pro wrestlers.

Hikaru exemplifies that.

Her matches are routinely watchable, and yet her character never seems to develop or go anywhere. Feuds with Rose, Penelope Ford and Thunder Rosa in 2020 seemed like secondary/background affairs rather than main-line wars over the top female prize.
