As the primary stars of E!'s Total Divas reality show, the Bella Twins are the most visible women in WWE. As a result, the company's divas' division was largely built around them in 2015, with Nikki holding the title for the bulk of the year and Brie (and later, Alicia Fox) helping her retain it at all costs. While a strong, long-reigning heel champion can be great for business, the problem with Nikki Bella was that she was consistently upstaged by her competition - from Naomi to AJ Lee to Paige. Bella's victories over her more talented opponents came off as blatant company favoritism, and after the "Divas' Revolution" - in which top NXT competitors Sasha Banks, Charlotte, and Becky Lynch debuted on the main roster - Team Bella continued to be the focal point of the company. At Night of Champions, Charlotte finally put at end to Bella's reign as champion, but the year up to that point was hard to forget.
