10 Most BRUTAL Looking Finishers In Wrestling Today

4. Jon Moxley - Paradigm Shift

Jon Moxley’s Paradigm Shift is a murder variant of a DDT.

In WWE, the Dirty Deeds was fine. His quick jab kick to the ribs was the right set up for his snap double-arm DDT. Why hold an opponent’s arms for a few seconds, staring at the crowd as your opponent just stands there bent forward? It doesn’t make sense.

In AEW, however, he uses the same double-arm DDT variation with one slight change; he hoists the opponent off the mat ever so slightly, directly planting the top of their head into the mat.

Each Paradigm Shift is different. In the image above, Joey Janela is positioned almost as vertically as a Minoru Suzuki Gotch-style Piledriver. In a different Moxley vs. Janela clash, The Bad Boy’s feet barely left the mat, resulting in him dropping to his knees, his head being planted in an excruciating spot to watch. Shawn Spears used a similar method when taking the move early in AEW’s history. When Darby Allin took a sickening Paradigm Shift off the middle-rope, he insisted on going down head-first, somehow escaping a serious neck injury.

Jon Moxley is dubbed The Death Rider, remember. You believe he could genuinely cause serious harm, if not death, with this move.
