The Money in the Bank PPV from 2016 was über-hyped as the greatest MITB event ever, with two WrestleMania-worthy matches dominating the build, not to mention a star-studded field set to compete in the signature ladder affair.

Dean Ambrose, Chris Jericho, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Cesaro and Alberto Del Rio tore the house down in a tantalizing contest, loaded with fantastic sub-plots, such as eventual winner Ambrose’s impending path to championship glory. It was one of the most even-matched Money in the Bank encounters in recent memory, and what followed was an unconditionally stiff car-crash of a match, which could have seen any man realistically come away with the contract.

Focusing on one of many gripping narratives heading into the bout, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn’s spiteful war was once again on show. During the fixture, the duo added a vicious moment to their already phenomenal feud. With a ladder set up on its side, Zayn sadistically executed a brutal Michinoku Driver on Owens, who landed spine-first on the hard steel. Owens added to the drama, selling the manoeuvre as if he’d just been impaled and crucified. The real-life best friends turned bitter opponents took centre stage during MITB, as their pulsating conflict was absolutely kicked up a notch.

A top moment from a great match.
