7. Goldust

Chilling for an entirely different reason to almost every other character in WWE/WCW history, Goldust's ingenuity lay in playing off real-life prejudice. Initial Hollywood characteristics upon his debut in 1995 swiftly gave way to a homosexual overtone that turned Goldust into one of the WWF's most original gimmicks ever.

This was another winner in the 'frightening as heck' category for Dustin Runnels. If anything, his later guise as Se7en in WCW was always going to struggle when following such an almighty example of acting ability. Watch any Goldust performance from the first few years of his run and be prepared to experience supreme believability.

It was conceivable that Goldust lusted after fellow superstars in a bid to leave them racked with doubt, just as it was believable that this blonde-wig wearing freak didn't follow the same unwritten rules of social conduct as everyone else. Pushing the envelope and played to the hilt, Goldust's creep factor was majestic at first.
