Up until 2009, former wrestler-turned referee Scott Armstrong was just a regular WWE official. It was only when Armstrong became embroiled in a conspiracy storyline against The Undertaker, that fans started to really remember his name. Stopping a match at the Breaking Point Pay-Per-View in 2009 between 'Taker and CM Punk, Armstrong called for the bell whilst The Undertaker was in a submission hold, even though it was clear to everybody watching that the legend hadn't given up. This was used as a reference to the 'Montreal Screwjob' from the 1997 Survivor Series (more on that later), and was booked because Breaking Point was held in the same venue, the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. Years later, at Night Of Champions 2013, Armstrong fast-counted a pinfall in favour of Daniel Bryan, costing Randy Orton the match. The next night on Raw, the official was again involved in storylines, being fired by The Authority for siding with the underdog babyface, Bryan.
