Despite all these shocking moments, the most controversial of all has to be last year's match itself. 2014's outing had been something of a dud when everyone's favourite Daniel Bryan wasn't anywhere near it, a decision that saw the usually popular No.30 entrant Rey Mysterious getting viciously booed for simply not being Bryan. When Batista was crowned the winner, setting up a potential snoozefest of a 'Mania main event against Randy Orton fans weren't best pleased. The 2015 event was the chance for the company to redeem itself with Bryan definitely in the match this time, going in as a favourite. The event on a whole was going great - Brock Lesnar, John Cena and Seth Rollins had one of the best matches of the year for the WWE Title and the first half of the Rumble itself was pretty strong. Surprise entrants such as Bubba Ray Dudley and Diamond Dallas Page got fans pumped and with Bryan entering the mix all was looking decent. But things took a severe downturn when Bryan was eliminated, but not just because he was eliminated - the bigger problem was that it was so early and with so little drama or fanfare that it was obvious WWE were trying to say something to the fans. It killed the atmosphere in the arena and put a major downer on proceedings. As wrestling fans we're used to disappointment at times but this was a whole new level. As Big Show and Kane started swatting off all the remaining guys people actually wanted to see, like Dolph Ziggler and Dean Ambrose, it was painfully obvious where this was heading. The final three were Roman Reigns and the two old timers. It was such bad booking that Reigns became the victim of it and was instantly hated by a large part of the crowd. So much so, in fact, that even the The freakin' Rock was getting booed for the part he ended up playing in assisting Reigns. As if that wasn't bad enough, the backlash from the fans became far worse. A social media campaign spread like wildfire with the hashtag #CancelWWENetwork trending worldwide. As people started taking screenshots and sharing their cancellations many mainstream media outlets picked up on the story and started reporting on it. It was some of the worst press the company has ever attracted and a colossal failure that they had a tough job fighting back from. Can they get it right in 2016? If there track record is anything to go by, I wouldn't hold your breath...
