10 Most Controversial WWE Royal Rumble Moments Ever

10. Vince McMahon Tears Both His Quads - 2005

Screwy finishes are nothing new to the Rumble. There€™s been plenty of times when a superstar has been eliminated but the ref missed it, or only one foot touched the ground, or the final two men have gone over the top at the same time. But one messy finish that wasn€™t meant to happen was that of the 2005 Royal Rumble. The final two men were John Cena and Batista and, on one of the biggest botches in Rumble histroy, Cena tried to eliminate Batista with an FU (in the good old days before the FU was called the Attitude Adjustment), but had no luck - Batista tried to eliminate Cena with a Batista bomb, but Cena 'countered' by clumsily positioning himself, causing both men to tumble over the top at the same time. While there€™s still those who debate whether it was a botch or booked that way (it was a botch), what happened afterwards definitely didn€™t go according to plan and was undeniably shocking. And hilarious. This scene unfolded during the brand split, so the Raw and Smackdown referees argued over who won the match before an irate Mr McMahon stormed the ring. As he tried to slide into the ring, he banged his leg off the apron, tearing his quar. The minute he enters the ring, he stumble to his knees and then proceeds to sit in the ring, yelling. The crowd are confused, as are Cena and Batista, as to why Vince had chosen this particular time to have a little sit down and not get up. Fans were left with jaws hanging open and Vincent Kennedy McMahon was not best pleased looking weak and foolish. Proving that he just doesn't know when to quit, Vince refused help when he got backstage and, while trying to exit the arena under his own power, tore his other quad, too. El oh el.
