10 Most Controversial WWE Royal Rumble Moments Ever

9. The Ministry Kidnap Mabel - 1999

Of all the personas The Undertaker has had over the years, his stint as the overlord of the Ministry Of Darkness is by far the most sinister. He went from a zombie in a hat and tie that was largely loved by the fans, to the closest thing to pure evil the wrestling world had ever seen (well, except for whoever is responsible for the Katie Vick angle). While these days The Undertaker won't do anything any more naughty than repeatedly booting Brock Lesnar in the genitals, back in the late 90s he'd get up to all sorts of dastardly and despicable business, that wouldn't even be dreamed of doing in today's kid-friendly product. The 1999 Royal Rumble was home to the Deadman's dark practices. The big-as-a-very-big-house Mabel had entered the ring and was dominating, perhaps unsurprising for a man who looked like he'd eaten four cruiserweights on his way to the ring. His spree of chucking blokes over the top rope wouldn't last long, though. The lights went out, and while a little Bray Wyatt was probably taking notes, they came back on to reveal ministry members Mideon and The Acolytes. They eliminated Mabel, despite not actually being in the match, and kidnapped him for their dark lord The Undertaker. This began Mabel's transformation into the evil Viscera. What made him evil? A big black coat and Marilyn Manson-esque contact lenses. For all his legendary status, WWE probably don't want you reminiscing over 'Taker being a satanic kidnapper.
