9. Randy Savage Defeats Ted DiBiase - WrestleMania IV

Recently, rumours popped up suggesting that the 'Million Dollar Man' Ted DiBiase was supposed to be the one to leave WrestleMania IV as WWF Heavyweight Champion. Such hearsay theorises that Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage were the ones who had the result changed, because they had an epic confrontation between themselves planned further on down the line. Whether true or not, 'Macho Man' Randy Savage did deserve to win the belt at 'Mania IV. His main event opposite DiBiase was vital to the show's success, because the card was generally a dull affair. Had it not been for a Savage win, the event may well be discarded as one of the worst of all time. A lifeless 14-man tournament made up the bulk of proceedings, with only Randy's win existing as a main highlight. In addition, this was a new dawn for the WWF. Previously, Savage had been an important star, but he was an entirely different kind of wrestler to Hulk Hogan. By putting the belt on the Macho Man, the company were showing that they were willing to try new things, even at the peak of their powers. That has to be respected, even if Hulk did regain the belt the following year.
