10 Most Crucial WWE World Title Changes

10. Eddie Guerrero Defeats Brock Lesnar - No Way Out 2004

Eddie Guerrero deserved to be WWE Heavyweight Champion in 2004. The man had come through some serious personal issues and injuries to completely turn his career around in 2002. Returning to action, the Latino star served up some amazing tussles against the likes of Rob Van Dam, proving he had a lot more to offer. For Guerrero, it was all about re-establishing faith from the company itself. At No Way Out 2004, the man got his reward for all that hard work. Even though he entered the match as somewhat of an underdog, Eddie Guerrero had to beat Brock Lesnar and prove he had the skills to carry the top title in WWE. On the surface, this was crucial for Eddie's career, but it was also a lot more vital for the promotion than a first glance reveals. Just a few short months later, Brock Lesnar was gone from WWE. The man dubbed the 'Next Big Thing' had decided he didn't really like the punishing road schedule the company favoured, and wanted to try his hand at American Football. Lesnar had been Vince McMahon's hand-picked star to lead WWE forwards, but now the owner was forced to go in a different direction. Guerrero was perfectly placed to capitalise on that, and his run with the belt cemented his legacy.
