Whichever member of the SmackDown writing staff came up with the idea of putting Zach Gowen, a one-legged wrestler, in the ring with Brock Lesnar is both a genius and a potential psychopath.

A genius, because it made for one of the best WWE heel moments of all-time. The sight of Brock Lesnar throwing a bloodied Gowen around in the ring like rag-doll, right in front of his mother - who was sat at ringside, looking legitimately horrified - was the stuff of little kids' nightmares.

But, from start to finish, the entire match seemed a lot more violent than usual too. Lesnar's wicked chair shot to his opponent's head was one of the most sickening ever seen outside of ECW, and he followed it up by twice F-5ing him into the steel ring post.

None of this is to imply that Gowen, who is clearly made of incredibly strong stuff, was somehow incapable of absorbing punishment. That he was missing a limb isn't the issue here - it's the fact that he was a young, inexperienced guy of no more than 140lbs soaking wet
