10 Most Death-Defying Jeff Hardy Stunts
5. Missed Swanton Through Table - SummerSlam 2000
"You miss one hundred percent of the shots you don't take" is an inspirational - if mathematically incorrect - quote from hockey star Wayne Gretzky. A lesser known quote from Gretzky goes "You miss one hundred percent of the tables you don't try to fling yourself through from 20 feet in the air".
It's clear from Hardy's performance at SummerSlam 2000 that he's a much bigger fan of that first line.
The first officially-billed TLC Match at that year's event was one helluva spot fest, and remains a big favourite of those who love carnage just for carnage's sake. And what might just be the craziest spot in a match full of outrageous stunts, Jeff ascended to the top of the tallest ladder they had, looking to recreate his legendary Swanton from WrestleMania 2000.
Unfortunately for Jeff, Bubba Ray Dudley wasn't going to let himself get torched a second time, and rolled off the tables as the youngest Hardy began his spectacular fall. Hardy absolutely obliterated the two tables, crashing through the thin layer of wood and taking the brunt of the it on his spine and coccyx.
When J.R. says it looks like Jeff's been "thrown out of a moving vehicle", that's not hyperbole.
