10 Most Deserving Ways A Vacant Wrestling Title Was Won

3. The Rock (Survivor Series 1998)

We’ve already featured one Survivor Series multi-man tournament on this list so far, but as vaguely mentioned previously, it wasn’t the first of its kind.

Roman Reigns’ 2015 victory was rather reminiscent of The Rock’s success back in 1998, when the Great One secured the first of many WWE Championships in a similar 16-man tournament. Forget about talk of double-duty though, because the Rock actually competed in a quartet of matches back in the day on his way to winning the strap.

On 15th Novembver, 1998, the Brahma Bull beat the Big Boss Man, Ken Shamrock, The Undertaker, and finally Mankind in a single evening to emphatically earn his stripes. By the end of it all, he’d been in action for well over half an hour, and that total would have been a whole lot higher but for his three second win over the Big Boss Man.

It’d be remiss not to mention the fact that Vince McMahon played a fairly prominent role in the Rock’s final victory, but that doesn’t change the fact that this will always be remembered as one of the most memorable one-night tournament wins in WWE history.
