10 Most Disappointing Wrestling Ladder Matches Of All Time

6. Sabu Vs. Rob Van Dam - ECW August 2006

So...many...botches Maybe the expectations for their ladder-infused meeting for this #1 Contender's Match were unreasonably high. After all, neither of these guys are exactly known for their precision. They're endlessly entertaining and impossibly creative, but they also have a tendency to get sloppy. A lot. Those tendencies were on full display for this match, with the whole thing quickly devolving into a supreme botch-fest. RVD tries to pin Sabu, even though this is a ladder match. After Sabu botches his attempt to run and jump off a folding chair and hit RVD, who is positioned on the turnbuckle, RVD "salvages" the spot by inexplicably launching himself off the turnbuckle and...trying to grab the briefcase in midair? Sabu tries to do his triple jump moonsault using a prone ladder, which buckles, and he falls on his ass. RVD immediately jumps up and does a spinning leg drop on him to make it look like that was supposed to happen. It's really just a series of screw-ups and then a bunch of respectable attempts to cover up those mistakes. You get the feeling these guys had only walked through these new and unusual moves once, about half an hour before the match started, without actually using any of the props. They just said, "eh, we'll figure it out." But they didn't. They didn't figure it out.
