10 Most Disappointing Wrestling Ladder Matches Of All Time

7. Eddie Guerrero Vs. Syxx - WCW/NWO Souled Out 1997

Even before factoring in Eric Bischoff's obnoxious commentary about Syxx's real world karate skills (which is just a long-winded set-up to remind viewers that Bischoff also happens to know karate), this match has a lot going against it. Despite a couple of good spots, this ended up being a pretty graceless exhibition for two gifted cruiserweights. There are a lot of matches on this list that appear to suffer from a lack of chemistry, and that's probably most apparent with Guerrero and Syxx. Maybe they're not on the same page because they're unaccustomed to working together (they had a pretty limited lead-up angle to this match) or maybe there's some genuine animosity that boiled over from backstage. Whatever the reason, they just never looked very comfortable with each other that night. And then there was that weird ending, with the two grabbing the belt at the same time and playing the gentlest game of tug-o-war you've ever seen. (Strangely, there was another similar instance with the ladder earlier in the match that looked just as clumsy and unconvincing.) This was apparently Eddie's first ladder match and, while it was certainly a pretty poor outing, he'd save his best...or, uh, worst...for a few years later.
