10 Most Divisive WWE Match Outcomes Ever

9. The Undertaker Vs. Brock Lesnar - WrestleMania XXX

Goldberg Lesnar

I was in attendance for WrestleMania XXX. Side note: you really should make the pilgrimage at least once. As easy as it is to reject cloying WWE hype, the Show of Shows really is special, provided you're not sat in front of an irritating, loud lapsed Attitude Era fan who couldn't wrap his daft head around the popularity of Daniel Bryan. Crotch-chopping his face after Bryan lifted the belt was as cathartic as the title win in itself.

The Streak had died in the building before the Undertaker made his entrance. Everybody knew what was going to happen. Undertaker was going to wrestle and win a 25 minute war, one which, if Lesnar's WrestleMania 29 match against Triple H was any indication, wasn't going to live up to the expected standard.

They were half-right. In the most surprising outcome of all time, Brock Lesnar conquered The Streak.

Initial shock gave way to an optimistic coping mechanism for some. It was a postmodern source of heat; Lesnar was the perfect point of transference because his real-life status as part-time mercenary meant that he wasn't worthy of it on a meta-textual level. Fans couldn't forgive whomever broke The Streak - but they would accept, with open arms, the man who broke the man who broke it.

The events of Survivor Series 2016 vindicated the pessimists. As of time of writing, a full-time star has not emerged, even indirectly, following the events of April 6, 2014. WWE's biggest star-maker has become a black hole.
