A run cut criminally short by the infamous events of Survivor Series 1997, The Hart Foundation ultimately had to live and die by the fortunes of Bret Hart. Luckily for Vince McMahon, his loyal audience and 'The Hitman' himself, Hart's feud with Stone Cold Steve Austin was a roaring success, and his fifth WWE Championship reign in August vindicated his incredible heel turn the prior March.

Baked into the landscape of New Generation, the Hart Family feud had been so drawn out that a reconciliation always looked beyond all possibilities. By 1995, every on screen regular from the famous Calgary crew apart from Bret himself had turned, and (until it actually happened) the 'Excellence Of Execution' doing the same had been unthinkable.

Realising that he needed help against Austin - itself an act of tacit cowardice - Hart cooled tensions between Owen Hart and the British Bulldog before welcoming Jim Neidhart and Brian Pillman into the fold to help in his stubborn quest to be a different kid of 'Best There Is, Was and Ever Will Be'. Scooping up every major title during their eight months as a stable, they were the bedrock act of a show in irresistible and irrepressible form.
