"Ugh, he's so tiny".

Those, according to Bruce Prichard on his podcast, were the words of Vince McMahon when he clapped eyes on Eddie Guerrero for the very first time. To the boss, there was zero chance that his new fiery Latino signing would ever become WWE Champion. Guys that size had to possess something very extraordinary to make it practical.

Good news: Guerrero did. He, without hyperbole, was one of the most talented, over and cherished stars of a generation when he rocked up to No Way Out 2004 for a match with McMahon pet project Brock Lesnar. In an inspiring moment, Vince changed his mind and decided to put his biggest prize on Eddie. History was made, and Kleenex sales went through the bloody roof.

There's a beautiful picture of Eddie standing on the entrance ramp with the WWE Title in his right hand and the referee raising his left. His eyes are puffy from crying, and it's clear to see he was overwhelmed by what had just happened. Rarely has the chant, "You Deserve It" been more apt.
