2. Shawn Michaels vs Ric Flair (WrestleMania XXIV)
"I'm sorry, I love you."
This played out how a retirement match should. Flair went out swinging after a glorious 36-year in-ring career at the hands of another great, Shawn Michaels.
The Nature Boy almost nicked the victory with a rollup before The Heartbreak Kid hit a Sweet Chin Music out of nowhere. Looking remorseful in the corner, Michaels shaped up for another super kick. Flair goaded him, demanding he bring it, and bring it Michaels did.
This is another example of the old school mentality that says retiring wrestlers should loose their last match.
Immediately after the three-count, the pair embraced with tears flowing from the former 16-time world champion. Michaels left the ring quickly to allow Ric to receive the deserved adulation of the 75,000 in attendance.
The whole crowd got on their feet and gave Flair a standing ovation who went and embraced with his family. A fitting end to an amazing run.
