The reaction of the crowd after the referee's hand hit the mat for the third time is something modern day WWE fans had never experienced before.
When Bruno Sammartino lost his WWE title for the first time in forever back in the 1970s, he spoke of thinking he had gone deaf, such was the shock and dumbfoundment in the arena. This reaction by the 75,000 in the SuperDome was much the same.
