10 Most Exciting Run-ins In WWE History
9. Edge (One Night Stand 2006)
I mentioned in the introduction that shenanigans such as interferences can often ruin a match. But if the interloper is actually acting in the interest of those in attendance, we as fans are usually happy to turn a blind eye to the screwy finish.
A great example of this came at ECW One Night Stand 2006, when Edge left an indelible mark on the WWE Championship match between Rob Van Dam and John Cena.
That may sound like a bit of a douchebag move, but a vociferous crowd in the Hammerstein Ballroom certainly didn’t care one bit, as Edge had opted to target their nemesis for the night, Cena.
Edge emerged in a badass biker helmet and trench coat to hit Cena with a Spear through a table, and was greeted with resounding “thank you Edge” chants from those gathered in attendance. Van Dam would follow up with the Five Star Frog Splash, before Paul Heyman once again played a part, sprinting to ringside to count the 1-2-3 and crown RVD the new WWE Champion.
