10 Most Exciting WWE Royal Rumble Finishes
5. Fair To Flair - 1992
The 1992 Royal Rumble was special for a couple of reasons - first off, it marked the first major WWE main event for Ric Flair, who had defected from WCW a couple of months earlier (while claiming to be the "real World's Champion"). Secondly, the vacant WWE Championship would be on the line in the bout.
Flair entered the Rumble at #3, and proceeded to put on the sort of performance that made him famous. Though he only racked up a total of three eliminations (a record low for a Royal Rumble winner until 1999), he spent the match bumping, selling, and generally making things more exciting. Many stars came and went, but Flair remained in the ring.
Before too long, fans couldn't believe their eyes - the man who claimed the be the true world champion was closer and closer to achieving that title, especially once he broke the record for the longest time in the match (outlasting Rick Martel's 52-minute run from the year before). Flair ended up lasting just over an hour, and when he tossed Sid out of the ring to win, the unthinkable had happened - Ric Flair was WWE Champion.
