In the early ‘90s before a TV taping Vince McMahon, fearing another media scandal lobbied at the WWF, instructed all the talent that its stringent drug testing would now test for all non prescription drugs, which included marijuana. It was a controversial decision that irked many Superstars. Bret Hart’s spoken in his autobiography of how short-sighted this decision was, with wrestlers instead turning to heavy alcohol consumption which had more severe long-term repercussions like addiction.

Nasty Boy Brian Knobbs too disagreed with the decision, which resulted in him being issued a high-priced fine directly from The Chairman. According to Scott Hall, the first time he met Vince McMahon he was arguing with Knobbs, who had just tested positive for smoking cannabis. Knobbs felt he had every right to relax after a show with a smoke. Vince didn’t though, and wasn’t in the mood to hear excuses or reasoning, as he handed down the shockingly high $10,000 fine to Knobbs.

You have to think Brian Knobbs arguing with the boss over using marijuana earns the respect of talent like Rob Van Dam and Matt Riddle.
