10 Most Extreme WWE Risk Takers This Century

3. Edge

Onto the holy trio now, and we start off with a guy who was so extreme inside the ring that he was forced to retire due to injury. When he wasn't busy in that infamous love triangle with Lita and Matt Hardy, Edge was notoriously pushing his body to the limit on a frequent basis. Naturally, when examining the 21st century career of Edge, you have to begin by looking at those iconic Tables, Ladders and Chairs matches around the turn of the Millennium. They included perhaps the most extreme moment in the history of the WWE, when Edge ruthlessly speared Jeff Hardy off the top of a ladder; an angle that generated enormous reaction from the crowd in attendance. And deservedly so, as it was a truly incredible moment. It was risk taking personified, and the high-octane continued right up until the day Edge retired. Edge and ladders went hand in hand throughout his career; take the time he flung himself at John Cena off a ladder to deliver another astonishing spear. There was also another iconic moment where he speared The Undertaker through a Hell in a Cell structure (well, through one of the panels, but you get the picture) at SummerSlam 2008. The "Rated-R Superstar" made a career out of extreme moments, and he's remained a big loss for the WWE up until this very day.
