10 Most Fake Wrestling Weapons Ever
9. The Taser
The most famous use of a taser or stun gun in wrestling is easily the finish to the main event of Starrcade 1998.
In the middle of Goldberg's WCW title defence against Kevin Nash, Scott Hall arrived at ringside dressed as a security guard. He then used a taser on the champion, knocking him down long enough for Nash to score the pin, win the title, and snap Goldberg's undefeated streak.
It was a stupid idea then, and it's a stupid idea now.
Another wrestler who made use of the weapon was The Mountie, a gimmick based on the Canadian Mounted Police. Whilst WCW made some efforts to make Hall's taser look real, WWE tried significantly less with The Mountie.
They piped electricity noises into the arena, for goodness' sake!
It's safe to say that these stun guns were not real. In the UK, police offers have to undergo 18 hours of initial taser training and six more hours every year. It's safe to say that Scott Hall was not devoting this much time to the finish of Starrcade '98.
Tasers are pretty easy to fake, so it makes sense why they're used so much. However, they are also quite silly.
