10 Most Fake Wrestling Weapons Ever

7. A Plastic Mask

Before he was The American Nightmare, Stardust, or the owner of one of wrestling's greatest ever moustaches, Cody Rhodes was Dashing.

What elevated this character beyond the played-out narcissist gimmick was what Rhodes did with it after he got boffed in the face by Rey Mysterio.

Suffering a legitimate broken nose, Cody incorporated a clear plastic mask into the character. Claiming to be deformed, even though he clearly wasn't, Cody lamented Mysterio for ruining his beautiful face to brilliant heat from the crowd.

What wasn't so brilliant was Cody's decision to use the mask as a weapon. He would routinely headbutt people whilst wearing it, causing his opponents to flop backwards like they'd just been tackled by a rampaging bull.

Incorporating "protective" ring gear into offence is a tried and tested method. D'Lo Brown did it to great effect during the Attitude Era. However, D'Lo had a giant chest protector on his side. Rhodes had a flimsy sheet of plastic attached to his noggin.

The mask didn't look like it added anything to Cody's headbutts. If anything, it would have made more sense if they had hurt him more. A good idea from a good gimmick, but poorly executed.
