WWE: 10 Most Famous Loser Leaves Town Retirement Matches
7. Ric Flair vs. Mr. Perfect (Monday Night Raw 1/25/93)
Again with the Nature Boy. What is it about Ric Flair that made promoters want to constantly put his career in jeopardy in matches? He has more retirement/loser leaves town matches than most wrestlers have championships, and he's lost more of them than he's won. Ric entered WWE for his first run with an impressive push. He was billed as "the real world's champion", carrying around the WCW title he brought with him due to the company failing to return his deposit on the belt. He won the WWE championship in the 1992 Royal Rumble as the third man into the fray and lasted nearly and hour to emerge victorious by eliminating Sid Justice (with Hulk Hogan's help). All signs seemed to be pointing to what one would think would be the biggest dream match in the history of the business with Flair squaring off against his WWE counterpart Hogan, but the match would never happen during this run. His association with Mr. Perfect had fallen apart and the two were butting heads. A great match that saw Ric team with Razor Ramon against Perfect and Randy Savage was a highlight of Survivor Series, and Perfect eliminated Flair from the 1993 Royal Rumble. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlvLhUQ1-Yw The next night the two faced off in a loser leaves WWE match on Monday Night Raw. The show was still in its infancy at that point and viewers weren't accustomed to getting as many marquee match-ups as they are now. The two ring generals delivered a terrific showdown with Mr. Perfect getting the win via his signature Perfectplex. Flair was headed back to WCW and Perfect would retire (although not for long) soon after.
