WWE: 10 Most Famous Loser Leaves Town Retirement Matches

8. Tommy Dreamer vs. Raven (Wrestlepalooza 1997)

Dreamer was the former pretty boy who had sacrificed his entire well being for the acceptance of the ECW fans, buying their chants of "he's hardcore!" with his own blood. Raven was his hated arch-nemesis, a face from his childhood who had returned to torment Tommy once again. The feud began in 1995 and lasted an incredible two years, with Dreamer never getting a single win over Raven. Rather than cause the fans' attention to wander, this only served to increase the intensity of the program. In today's wrestling where angles are shuffled through in a matter of weeks it's hard to fathom how Paul Heyman was able to sustain the Dreamer/Raven conflict for so long. It was well known by the ECW crowd that Raven was headed off to (the greener pastures?) of WCW, so when the two faced in a loser leaves town match at Wrestlepalooza 97, those in attendance were all over Raven with chants of "You sold out!" Before delivering the DDT for the finishing blow, Tommy yelled "E-C-F***ing-W!" to a huge response and then covered his foe for the three. It was the perfect climax to one of the longest running and most well booked angles in history.
