If there's one thing WWE loved, it was having a big man destroy The Undertaker as the announcers wailed about how they'd never seen anyone dominate The Phenom like that before. The Great Khali was the 2006 model of this trope, and the company put their entire weight behind the huge Indian from the get-go. He made his debut by mauling 'Taker on an episode of SmackDown, and their first meeting proper followed a similar path.

Whilst the above paragraph hints at something generic and mediocre, the truth was that we genuinely hadn't seen 'Taker dominated like this. This wasn't a young Undertaker against an immobile giant in a hairy nude suit in 1993, this was 2006 Undertaker, mid-Streak Undertaker. The Great Khali treated him like a genuine nobody.

Khali even got the one foot cover to ram it all home. Khali's limitations meant his career wouldn't exactly sparkle, but on this night he looked terrifying.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
