10 Most Godawful Celebrity Cameos In Wrestling History
2. Lawrence Taylor
Ex-NFL linebacker Lawrence Taylor vs. Bam Bam Bigelow. This was the main event of WrestleMania XI. This...was the main event...at WrestleMania XI.
And sure, it's easy to look back at the year 1995 and spot the overall dearth of talent on the roster as a way to rationalize Taylor's involvement. But for God's sake Shawn Michaels vs. Diesel went on before this. Hell, Undertaker vs. King Kong Bundy would have been a better main event than this.
Even though Taylor managed a minute or two of short-burst offense, the majority of this thing was just painfully awkward to absorb. It was kind of neat to see all of Taylor's football friends surrounding the ringside - even though they literally had no involvement in the actual match. Was that neatness enough to justify that horrible, horrible match?
Of course not.
Lawrence Taylor could have shown up in any other capacity that didn't make him a main event player and the WWE Universe would have embraced him. Or at least forgotten he was ever involved. Either of those two situations would be much better than his current legacy as "the sports guy who ruined 1995 for wrestling fans."
