The most infamous match of the 2010s remains difficult to watch. Jeff Hardy vs. Sting for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship is a legitimate magnet for fan hatred.

Hardy, after an awkward wait, staggered out, dead behind the eyes, and sang his entrance theme to a camera. Even his brief interaction with fans had "3am in a club’s smoking area" vibes. Sting, to his credit, remained stoic as Hardy gurned and flipped off the crowd.

After referee Brian Hebner threw up the X sign, Eric Bischoff intervened in the guise of adding a No Disqualification stipulation to the match. Jeff milked throwing his shirt to the crowd, eventually dropping it in the ring, which added some time to the clock. Sting soon rocked Hardy with strikes, hit a Scorpion Death Drop, and forcibly held a struggling Jeff down for the three count. Hardy was visibly enraged, as Sting gave minimum celebration, before leaving. The arena was swamped in “bulls**t” chants. Sting let his guard down, responding to fans “I agree”.

Though the match is infamous, Sting was praised for his professionalism. Hardy battled his demons, delighting fans, and is still adding to his legacy today.
