10 Most Hated Wrestling Matches Involving Beloved Wrestlers
4. Brothers Of Destruction Vs KroniK (WWE Unforgiven 2001)
The Undertaker and Kane taking on Brian Clark and Brian Adams looked like it would be a hard-hitting slobberknocker. Not a classic but at least entertaining.
This was not the case.
It was KroniK’s first WWE pay-per-view appearance and their last match for the company. While ‘Taker and Kane were not completely blameless, Clark and Adams proved themselves unable to compete on the stacked roster of 2001. It felt as if the WWE team dumbed down their usual in-ring offence and KroniK still struggled to keep up. Clark and Adams’ strikes oscillated from stiff to phoney without reaching the sweet space in between. They also botched basic moves, such as Clark’s disjointed selling of a neckbreaker and a low and sloppy dropkick.
KroniK spearheaded an uncanny valley of a wrestling match. You could see the figurative strings of a performance that was almost like the wrestling we are accustomed to, but not quite. The Undertaker’s facial expression of simmering rage left viewers unable to confidently identify whether it was an extension of his American Badass persona or his real-life fury.
