10 Most Heartbreaking On-Screen WWE Break Ups

5. Triple H & Stephanie McMahon

Chris Jericho, Trish Stratus

It is quite hard to have any sympathy for either Triple H or Stephanie McMahon. The former more so, as he has pretty much always been positioned in a spot of power and invulnerability. Stephanie has followed this route in 2016, but it hasn't always been this way.

When both returned to WWE TV in 2002, they did so with a marriage on the rocks. I've never been married, but I can only assume that the degradation of a marriage is an extremely difficult thing to deal with, unless of course you are super invulnerable King of Kings feel no pain Triple H. Stephanie went in the opposite direction however, becoming more needy and conscious of herself around her husband. Love is fragile, and Stephanie showed this fragility.

She took it too far though, and concocted a pregnancy story to convince Triple H to stay with her. Triple H caught wind of the fallacy and proceeded to end the marriage in front of the world on Monday Night RAW. Stephanie was reduced to tears in her wedding dress, a thoroughly degraded character in front of the world. Regardless of your opinion of the character, this was tough to see.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
