10 Most Heated Rivalries In UFC History

6. Tito Ortiz Vs. Chuck Liddell

The rivalry between Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell is one of those that helped push the UFC and the sport of MMA to new heights in a mainstream sense.

Many were calling for Liddell to be the one to challenge for Tito's UFC Light Heavyweight Championship at one point in time - although The Huntington Beach Bad Boy seemed to be ducking Chuck by claiming how they'd promised to never fight each other. In fact, it was only after Tito lost the title to Randy Couture that the Liddell fight finally happened.

In that UFC 47 fight, it was The Iceman who was victorious, and the result would be the same when the pair rematched at UFC 66. A third fight was then planned for UFC 115 after both men served as opposing coaches on Season 11 of The Ultimate Fighter.

It was at this point that the rivalry became even more heated, with Ortiz publicly making claims about Liddell having problems with alcohol and certain other demons. So incensed was Chuck, he promised to literally kill his rival. Sadly, that third fight didn't actually happen at that time due to Tito having to undergo neck surgery.

In more recent times, Chuck Liddell came out of of retirement to face Tito Ortiz one last time at last October's Golden Boy Promotions event - Ortiz this time getting the victory.
