10 Most Heavily Protected Wrestlers In AEW Right Now
5. Malakai Black
What a job they have done with Malakai Black.
When the lights shut off and heralded his arrival, the AEW fans lost their collective minds. Make no mistake about it, this man has a BIG following and AEW needed to get his presentation right, especially after his hokey, self-made promotional video.
Everything they have done with Black so far has been money, and when he walked out for his first entrance it was terrifying. The mask, the music, the sporadic plunges into darkness, made Black seem like a demon crawling from the depths of hell.
Feeding him Cody in a match that drew heavy comparisons to the phenomenal Brodie Lee squash was a smart move, but the pièce de résistance was having him pin Cody with one foot. As if he had just squashed a no named jobber. It was an electric debut for Malakai Black and their work with him since then has been great.
Undefeated and kicking the heads off of the Nightmare Family, there was a strong chance that Black would have been overshadowed by the recent arrivals of bonafide megastars CM Punk, Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole. But AEW have shown before they don't book week to week, and it looks like Malakai Black has an exciting future ahead.
