Initially, NXT aired on Syfy for the first year of its existence before SmackDown moved to the same channel. This was disastrous news for the then gameshow's contestants as many felt that there couldn't be two wrestling shows on the same network. Although the old NXT could hardly be considered as wrestling. This saw NXT relegated to an online only show in 2011. After Season 5 had reached its conclusion, NXT stopped broadcasting in the US altogether right up until September 2012 when WWE reached an agreement with Hulu Plus to air the show. The then newest of the new episodes of NXT began airing September 26, 2012. Early in 2014 the WWE Network began to air and this provided NXT with a platform that it finally could flourish on. Look at the size of the product now, a small smidgeon of credit has to go to the Network, and Youtube for that matter.
