10 Most Important Non-WWE Wrestling Moments Of The 2010s

1. Dave Meltzer's Tweet

When a fan asked Dave Meltzer on Twitter whether he thought Ring of Honor could sell out a 10,000+ seater arena, Big Dave replied "Not any time soon".

Lurking in his replies was a certain Cody Rhodes, who responded to the Tweet with the now immortal phrase, "I'll take that bet Dave".

What followed over the next two and half years took everyone by surprise. Firstly, Cody would help put on the biggest indie wrestling show of all time - All In - in 2018. It was the first time since the closure of WCW that a non-WWE wrestling event drew over 10,000 fans in North America. And this was only the beginning.

After rumours and rumblings for months and months, it was finally announced in 2019 that Cody, The Young Bucks, and Kenny Omega were teaming up with Tony Khan to form All Elite Wrestling.

The company gave non-WWE wrestling fans a glimmer of hope; finally, a viable alternative to the WWE product with enough financial backing behind it to really trouble the McMahons.

This story is still being written and everyone is gripped. And it all started with a single Tweet.
