10 Most Important Off-Screen WWE Personnel

5. Dr. Joseph Maroon

One of WWE's most tenured backstage employees, Dr. Joseph Maroon has been on the company books since 2006, during which time he has implemented such pioneering medical innovations as removing chairshots to the head, adding protective padding to the ring, and insisting trainees use helmets whilst practising.

Alongside neuropsychologist Mark Lovell PHD, Maroon developed ImPact - not a rival television show, but a high-tech system designed to accurately assess the severity of concussions, and their prognosis. Given his expertise in the area, it's pretty alarming that the doc dismissed the findings of the JAMA study into CTE. It may be company policy to downplay the condition, given their delicacy on the subject thanks to Konstantine Kyros' ultimately futile class-action lawsuit. Former footballer Baron Corbin's found out the hard way; his decision to challenge Maroon over his views ultimately cost him his Money in the Bank briefcase. What a place to work.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
