10 Most Important Superstars On The Road To WWE Summerslam 2014
2. Brock Lesnar
It could be argued that no one has benefitted from an extended absence from WWE television in the way that Brock Lesnar has since the Raw after Wrestlemania XXX. Having achieved the unthinkable and broken The Undertaker's legendary undefeated Wrestlemania streak, the only thing certain about Brock Lesnar's return to WWE action is that it will be absolutely enormous. The most talked about man in the industry may just be WWE's most valuable commodity after his exploits on professional wrestling's grandest stage, which makes his next involvement with the company that much more spectacular. We may have already been given a clue as to what the progression of Brock Lesnar will be. Prior to accepting a match with The Undertaker at Wrestlemania XXX, you may remember Lesnar and his manager, Paul Heyman, expressing their dissatisfaction that Lesnar had been left out of the main event match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania XXX. At that stage the match was set to be Batista vs Randy Orton. Daniel Bryan would later be added and go on to be victorious in that match. A small detail perhaps, but having conquered the streak the next logical step for the 'Beast Incarnate' is to target the gold. If Bryan is champion around Summerslam, we may well see the return of Lesnar to produce what would be a wrestling fan's dream feud. With the foundations of a programme between the two men already subtly laid down by WWE, there can surely be no bigger blockbuster main event at Summerslam than Brock Lesnar vs The WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Being off-screen for so long is actually raising Lesnar's stock among the fans right now, and with the former champion set for a momentous return to action, WWE's second highest-profile event of the year could be the perfect setting for WWE to capitalise on the fanfare surrounding the Paul Heyman guy.
