2. John Cena
WWE.comThe true face of WWE for the last decade is John Cena. He's the WWE's top merchandise seller, the man that has headlined more shows than anybody else and by far the most charitable wrestler perhaps of all time. A lot of people don't like him for those same reasons. While he may not be as big of a star as Hulk Hogan was in the mainstream, he is this generation's Hogan in many ways. Cena has been a fixture on Monday nights since he was drafted to Raw in 2005 and aside from a few brief injuries that put him on the sidelines he's been the focal point of WWE's "A" show ever since. He's been a babyface during his entire Raw run too. There hasn't even been a hint of a heel turn although if it happened then perhaps that could spike Raw's ratings. Speaking of the ratings, they really aren't close to what WWE was doing in their best days 15 years earlier, but getting 4-5 million viewers per week is still very strong. His haters will complain about his in-ring style saying he's never been that great. They might mention that his promos are cheesy a lot of the time too. Some of that is true to a certain degree, but if you look at the whole package he truly is a very good performer that has carried the WWE flag very well. He's the unquestioned biggest star on Raw whether you like him or not. There's nobody in wrestling today that draws the reactions that Cena does whether they are cheers or boos. The thing is, wrestling today isn't nearly as hot as it was at WWE's peak so it's tough to put Cena ahead of the guy that really made a difference when WWE was being challenged by WCW every Monday night. He's still right at the top, but not "the man" this time.
