10 Most Ineffectual WWE Authority Figures

7. The Anonymous Raw General Manager

When Vince McMahon first introduced The Anonymous Raw General Manager it was an idea that had potential. Emails would be sent to a laptop near the commentary desk, and Michael Cole would make sure he had everyone€™s attention before reading what the General Manager had to say. The emails would often contain popular catchphrases like €œRowdy€ Roddy Piper€™s €œJust when they think they got the answers, I change the questions€ and it could have been anyone at the other end of those emails. It also helped Michael Cole get over as a heel at the time, as fans became increasingly tired of him stepping to the podium to say €œ...and I quote€ Eventually it became apparent that there was no masterplan for The Anonymous Raw General Manager, and WWE were making it up as they went along. The constant interruptions from the iPhone text alert which signalled an email started to damage the flow of Monday Night Raw and fans became increasingly tired of the gimmick. The laptop was phased out as Triple H and John Laurinaitis vied for control of Monday Night Raw. It was eventually revealed that Hornswoggle had been the General Manager all along, which while meant to be whimsical instead came across as insulting to viewers€™ intelligence.
