10 Most Ineffectual WWE Authority Figures

4. Bret Hart

There€™s no doubt that Bret Hart is an icon, one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and that the industry was a lesser place without him for nearly a decade. In 2009, WWE made the announcement that many thought they would never hear and for the first time in over twelve years he would make an appearance on a WWE broadcast. Bret Hart returned to WWE and had a tearful reconciliation with his long-time rival Shawn Michaels, before entering in a feud with Vince McMahon. Bret faced Vince at WrestleMania XXVI and managed to gain closure on the Montreal Screwjob with the help of his family. After a bizarre and unnecessary WWE United States Championship win, which he later vacated, he was named Raw General Manager and got into a brief altercation with The Nexus in their quest to gain WWE contracts. He was General Manager for less than a month before he was fired from the role by Vince McMahon for not appearing as scheduled at the Fatal Four Way pay-per-view or the following night€™s Raw. Reportedly, Hart had to step back from the company due an issue with Lloyds of London, who provided the settlement for his career ending injury in the early-2000s. Whatever problem had occurred must have been resolved as he was eventually named part of Team WWE and competed at SummerSlam 2010.
