10 Most Infamous Backstage WWE WrestleMania Moments
1. Undertaker Confronts HBK (WrestleMania XIV)
Everybody's heard backstage stories about Shawn Michaels' behaviour in the '90s. His political reputation is largely earned and at WrestleMania XIV, it's widely believed that even though this was clearly 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin's moment to shine, Michaels was reluctant to do business and drop the WWE Championship.
Jim Cornette has gone into this several times and Austin himself has strongly implied it. As the story goes, The Undertaker, after what went down with Michaels and Bret Hart in Montreal, was ready to take care of 'HBK.' He apparently taped his fists and waited for Shawn by the curtain, letting him know, subliminally, that he'd be in a whole lot of trouble if he didn't do the right thing. Even Bruce Prichard backed this up on Something to Wrestle With, claiming that it went down right in front of him. Undertaker was employing clear intimidation tactics.
Michaels, in his own account of what happened, denies the fist-taping but admits that 'Taker told the locker room he'd have knocked Shawn's block off had he not put Austin over.
It never came to this. 'Stone Cold' won, HBK avoided an angry Undertaker's wrath, and the world kept spinning.
