10 Most Infamous Matches In Wrestling History

6. The Bushwhackers Vs. The Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff - Heroes Of Wrestling

In a match opposite the New Zealand tandem of the Bushwhackers, the Iron Sheik threatened to disqualify himself if the fans maintained their chants of “USA! USA!”. The fans could be forgiven. The show on which the match was promoted, Heroes Of Wrestling, was the most stupefying of all time.

After Volkoff and Luke Williams exchanged a sequence several notches below respectable, Butch Miller remonstrated with the referee to set up a cheat heap double team spot. The problem was that the Iron Sheik was almost literally immobile. He had to win the Gimmick Battle Royal at WrestleMania X-Seven because he was incapable of taking a bump. He wasn't much better eighteen months prior.

He naturally took an eternity to get in the ring. Miller was forced to drag out an already one-note comedy spot when feigning to punch the ref in retaliation. His wind up punch made him look like a broken toy. It was an unflattering comparison. A broken toy would have wrestled a more athletic and exciting match.

The Sheik’s in-ring contributions were actually worse; he almost fell on his a*se exerting himself to perform something approximating a body block. He almost fell over again when attempting to deliver a kick. The mere act of lifting one foot off the ground was enough to affect his equilibrium - and yet, he was being paid to simulate athletic combat.
