3. Jon Moxley Releases All Of His Frustrations

Dean Ambrose was an enigma.

By 2016, he was a completely different performer to the man who CM Punk once described on Twitter as WWE’s “secret weapon”. The man whose skeevy, menacing indie promo compilation was a cult YouTube smash wasn’t the same man who goofed around in Mountie cosplay. You sensed that he probably wasn’t too engaged in the process, since the contrast was so stark, but Jon Moxley wasn’t active on social media. He was private, even reclusive. He had more about him than, say, those who ‘Liked’ posts burying their booking on social media. He wasn’t passive aggressive, childish.

As it turns out, Mox was thoroughly miserable on WWE’s main roster after the Shield broke up. He confirmed as much in a May 2019 Talk Is Jericho appearance made to explain his jump from WWE to AEW. Actually, that’s not accurate: Mox was so depressed within the WWE bubble that he didn’t know such a place existed, and wanted to go to Japan.

Like the quiet man you’d never suspect was capable of a violent rampage, Mox - for two blistering, hilarious, unforgettable hours - took an axe to WWE’s creative and culture.

In an unexpected detonation of pure audio violence, Mox revealed that he would effectively run around and physically hide pathetic, career-killing dialogue penned by a creative writer from Vince McMahon, who was bound to fall in love with how terrible it was.
