10 Most Infamous Wrestling Shoot Interviews

4. CM Punk Creates Memes In Happier Times

Punk Joe Shoot
ROH

In contrast to many entries on this list, this isn’t infamous in the strictest definition - but the CM Punk x Samoa Joe shoot interview did produce a wealth of enduring memes and stigmatise former ROH booker Gabe Sapolsky as a perfectionist lunatic with profound anger management issues.

Joe asked Punk to tell the fans the story of the time Punk prank-called Gabe as Homicide. Punk thought it would be funny to pretend that Homicide had decided to walk out of ROH ahead of a huge match with Satoshi Kojima. Gabe was apoplectic.

And thus, “KOJIMA! LARIAT!” was born.

Punk also revealed that Gabe was once so pissed about some incredibly minor production gaffe - at a show run by ROH’s sister promotion FIP, no less - that he took a stack of ashtrays and blasted every last one of them against the nearest wall.

“IT’S A DVD PRODUCT!”

This shoot is, weirdly, more infamous than Punk’s two-man shoot with Colt Cabana, during which they openly joked about treating a friend/hanger-on they named ‘Bikini Girl’ quite awfully - even going as far as to admit that they laid in their forearms to put her off wrestling training.
